It’s spring, and spring means COLOR! Fall and winter hues get an infusion of brightness and light. Even the sky is brighter. Spring is when the birds start chirping, and little blooms start bursting forth. Spring and all its many colors give me sheer joy!
KBIS was a celebration of color as well. Café Appliances had a wonderful spring-inspired room that was absolutely delightful, while Monogram had a moody library room that was equally pleasant. James Martin Vanities showcased a gorgeous master suite set up with springy wallpaper that felt fresh and vibrant.
Green was everywhere! And as the designer with the green hair, I fit right in! I always get asked if I’m ready for spring and St. Patrick’s Day early, but the truth is? I stay ready. Green and other spring colors like pinks, blues, yellows, and roses give me joy because they remind me of being outside.
I don’t know about you, but I am not fond of fall and winter. The colors feel a bit down and cold, lacking life. On the contrary, spring represents renewal, rebirth, and vibrancy! Spring is where the
party is, and if you’re from Texas like me, Spring is the perfect weather—not too hot, not too cold—just right!
Biophilic interior design is an ode to spring as well. The goal of biophilic design is to connect a home’s occupants with nature—whether through plants, shapes, or textures. More and more, I find myself infusing this organic, nature-inspired style with my other favorite design aesthetics to add a layer of warmth and comfort to a space.
This past week, Michael and I went on a frenzy and adopted six new plants to add to our home!
As I continued my KBIS recap, one of the first things I saw that instantly made me think of spring was the Landshapes Collection by Daniel Arsham for Kohler.
When I say this collection was gorgeous, that is an understatement. This collection had so many details to take in! One standout piece? A
stunning tile made of recycled waste material from Kohler’s production. It’s called Waste Lab, and Arsham designed the tile to mimic layered torn paper and ocean waves.
The colors in this collection were breathtaking, and the fact that it supports sustainability efforts made it even more admirable.
Incorporating spring colors into the home is a smart design choice. I remember back in design school when I wanted to repaint my wallpapered bathroom. I went all out and sponge-painted marigold yellow and tangerine orange on the walls.
Bright colors helped wake me up and gave me a shot of happiness every morning.
Spring colors evoke joy, energy, optimism, and warmth. They can instantly refresh a space, making a home feel alive and full of vitality.
Biophilic design isn’t just about color—it’s about form and movement as well.
Nature is never straight and rigid. The elements we bring into our homes don’t have to be either! Curves, free-flowing lines, leaf shapes, and the movement of water all play a role in creating a space that feels warm and deeply connected to the outdoors.
The Kohler Landshapes Collection, designed a collaboration with artist Daniel Arsham, masterfully blends art and function, finding inspiration in natural forms and textures.
The asymmetrical oval basin adds an artistic touch, combining form and function seamlessly. Complementing these fixtures, the collection includes triangular cabinet knobs and glass faucet handles.
This collection exemplifies how thoughtful design and artistic vision can transform everyday spaces into immersive environments that resonate with nature and innovation.
The freestanding bath has a stone-like appearance with a warm, inviting feel.
Bocchi Sink – What makes this sink and faucet so special? The faucet can be raised and lowered. When lowered, it disappears below the countertop, allowing for a seamless kitchen design. Genius!
Kohler Ice Bath by Remedy Place – Absolutely stunning, just as intended. The bath is ergonomic, designed for both indoor and outdoor use, and even includes an app to guide you through the cold 39° plunge. Brrr!
Zip Faucet – If you love a variety of beverages like we do, this faucet is for you! It offers your typical tap PLUS more: boiling water for tea, sparkling water that’s sodium-free, and a self-retracting sprayer for easy sink cleaning.
Spring isn’t just a season—it’s an approach to living. From fresh colors to nature-inspired textures, incorporating spring’s energy into interiors brings a sense of renewal, lightness, and joy. Whether it’s the vibrancy of a newly painted room, the introduction of lush greenery, or the warmth of natural materials, spring reminds us that our spaces should reflect growth, transformation, and comfort.
As we embrace the changing season, it’s the perfect time to refresh our homes with colors and elements that uplift our spirits. What colors bring YOU joy in your home? Let’s chat in the comments!
